Stendhal: Memoirs of a Tourist.

SKU: 13016

Translated by Allan Seager. Illustrated by Roger Barr. Marie-Henri Beyle [1783-1842] aka Stendhal, was best known for his psychologically  accurate, realist novels published in the 1830's, decidedly against the Romantic tide of his time and place. This is a reduced version of his travel book where he creates an imaginary tourist who actually narrates the tale. Yet it is obviously Stendhal who is the tourist. Crimp to lower edge of back cover, otherwise like new. Northwestern University Press. Paper. 1962. USED. $7.00
