The Letters of Caroline Norton to Lord Melbourne.

SKU: 11114

Edited by James O. Hoge and Clarke Olney. Norton [1808-1877] was a British social beauty as well as a social reformer. Today we would call her a feminist. Her grandfather was Richard Brimsley Sheridan. When she left her husband, he was legally able to keep the earnings from her writings, and their children. This was one of the worst divorces in history, and dragged in accusations about Caroline and Lord Melbourne. No wonder she fought for women's rights! Read her own words to her friend. Ohio State University Press, 1974. Hb, dj in mylar. Very clean book, pretty decorations, illustrated. USED. $18.00
