Acworth lived in Westminster with her husband Abraham in the second half of the 18th century. She had a family collection of recipes to which she added throughout her life. She was buried in Westminster Abbey when she died in 1794. Her cookery book was found in the Public Record Office. The editors exerimented and researched the recipes, and have transribed and updated 90 of them for this book. The recipes are presented in their original form, and then updated for modern use. Mrs Acworth's recipes cover a wide range of cookery, with soups, meat and game, breads, cakes, creams and desserts, preserves, and drinks. The book is very clean, in very good condition, but the jacket has some sun-fading. Pavilion Books Limited. 1987. Hb, Dj. USED. $8.00
