Ahead of her time, Hester Lynch Salusbury [1741-1821], educated "like a man" in the classics, married Henry Thrale, befriended Samuel Johnson and Fanny Burney, among others, and luckily for us, made records of her thoughts and activities. Later Mrs. Piozzi, Hester Thrale Piozzi lives on in letters between herself and Samuel Johnson and other important figures of Georgian and Regency England.
