Maria Edgeworth.

A fascinating biography of the writer who has sometimes been called "The Irish Jane Austen." Edgeworth [1768-1849] was a prolific author of books for children and adults. She may be best known to Jane Austen fans for Belinda, mentioned in Northanger Abbey. Her satirical treatment of four generations of landowners in Castle Rackrent has drawn similarities in its importance for Anglo-Irish relations to Sir Walter Scott's importance to Scotland. The most popular author of the first decade of the 19th century, considered as popular in her time as Fanny Burney, Edgeworth outsold everyone until Sir Walter Scott's Waverley was published in 1814.
