He was an MP and later raised to the Peerage and made a Baron, when he switched from the Liberal to the Conservative Party. He published several books of fantasy stories for children which were quite popular in the time. This book was first published in 1881.  Page edges gilt all around. Pretty embossed green cloth cover.
